Wastraloka is a creative brand based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, founded by Eni Anjayani and Khabib Basori in 2014. The name Wastraloka is derived from the Sanskrit words Wastra, meaning traditional fabrics, and Loka, meaning heaven, reflecting our deep admiration for the richness of Nusantara culture. Traditional fabrics and their stories form the core of our identity, inspiring the unique hand-painted motifs featured across our home décor and gift collections.
What makes Wastraloka truly special is our commitment to sustainable craftsmanship. Each of our products is thoughtfully designed using both natural and recycled materials, including remnants from local refrigerator manufacturers, wood, and rattan. These humble materials are transformed into meaningful items that evoke a sense of warmth, nostalgia, and Indonesian identity.
Every motif is painted by hand through a careful, detailed process by talented artisans from communities surrounding our production site. We actively empower and mentor these individuals, those with raw, untapped artistic potential, helping them grow into skilled creators who contribute to products of high aesthetic and cultural value. We are proud to call them our local artisans.
In addition to our artisan community, we collaborate with local craftsmen and artists to co-create designs that reflect our shared values and ensure long-term creative growth. Our goal is to not only support sustainable livelihoods, but also to keep Indonesia’s diverse cultural heritage alive through modern yet meaningful design.
At Wastraloka, every piece tells a story. We hope that through our work, we can inspire deeper appreciation for traditional Indonesian artistry while offering timeless, heartfelt products for your everyday life.
